May 2018 at Oyama

A few special dates to keep in mind in this May…

“Micro-Farm” weekend – Friday May 4th – Sunday May 6th

Our “micro-farm” partner for May is Giesbrecht Farms located in the Fraser Valley.  Since 1993 Brian Giesbrecht has been raising free-range heritage pigs such as Berkshire and Tamworth on this small farm.  These pigs get amazing food primarily consisting of assorted nuts, alfalfa hay and overflow produce from local grocery stores!  Look for lots of products made with Giesbrecht pork this week at Oyama.

Mother’s Day Weekend – Friday May 11th – Sunday May 13th  

Celebrate Mom all weekend with tasty treats from Oyama!  Delicious patés and terrines, including favorites like Strasbourg Terrine, Pheasant Terrine or Mushroom Armagnac Paté and many more.  Not to mention a cornucopia of prosciuttos, salamis and cheeses to choose from to really celebrate Mom in style!  Happy Mother’s Day!

May Long Weekend – Thursday May 17th – Monday May 21st

May long weekend is the unofficial start of summer! And this is the first weekend of the year we will be making our famous Chili Cheese Brats and Southern Pulled Pork sausages!  These delectable sausages are only available for the summer long weekends, so be sure to order ahead.  We will also have our full line-up of smokies and hot dogs and over 40 types of other sausages!  Happy grilling!

Taste of Asia – Friday Apr 6th – Sunday Apr 8th

 

Our fusion weekend – where we blend Asian flavours with European tradition.   Mild Thai Pork, Night in Bangkok Bison and Tandoori Lamb sausages are just a few of the many flavours to choose from!  Take your taste buds to the Far East without ever leaving Vancouver!

Free-range pork – North Thompson Heritage Ranch – Friday Apr 13th – Sunday Apr 15th  

For this weekend, we are partnering with North Thompson Heritage Ranch, a small B.C. ranch that specializes in Berkshire-Tamworth pigs. These are free-range animals that North Thompson raises without the use of hormones or antibiotics. We will be making variety of tasty sausages from North Thompson’s heritage pork!

Bring out the Bangers! – Friday Apr 20th – Sunday Apr 22nd

This year we will be marking St. George’s day by making a conspicuous amount of bangers – 10 types in total – including Pork w/ Peas & Mint, Nottingham, and Lincolnshire Leek.  And our orange-whiskey glazed ham is a must try!

Boudin Noir and Morcilla – Last of the Season!- Friday Apr 27th – Sunday Apr 29th

The last boudin noir and morcilla of the season!  We will not be making more of these French and Spanish blood sausages until late September.  Call the store (604-327-7407) or email (orders@oyamasausage.ca) to reserve yours.
